This Cookie Policy explains how Book Tribe ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website booktribe.com.au and mobile application. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
By continuing to use our website, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time — see Section 5 below.
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners about how their site is used.
Similar technologies include web beacons (tiny transparent images used to track whether an email has been opened), pixels (small code snippets that track actions on a page), and local storage (data stored directly in your browser). When we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean all of these technologies.
We use four categories of cookies on booktribe.com.au:
The table below lists the main cookies currently in use on booktribe.com.au. This list may be updated as we add or remove services.
| Cookie name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Book Tribe | Maintains your login session | Session (deleted when browser closes) |
| CSRF token | Book Tribe | Security — prevents cross-site request forgery | Session |
| cookie_consent | Book Tribe | Remembers your cookie preferences | 12 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users and sessions for analytics reporting | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users for analytics reporting | 24 hours |
| sib_cuid | Brevo (Sendinblue) | Email marketing — identifies unique contacts | 13 months |
The Book Tribe mobile application (iOS and Android) does not use browser cookies. However, the app uses equivalent device-level technologies including:
- Local storage — to store your preferences and session data on your device
- Device identifiers — anonymised identifiers used for analytics and crash reporting
- Analytics SDKs — to understand app usage patterns and improve the app experience
You can reset your device's advertising identifier at any time through your device settings — on iOS via Settings → Privacy → Tracking, and on Android via Settings → Google → Ads.
5.1 Cookie banner
When you first visit booktribe.com.au, a cookie banner will appear allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can update your preferences at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site — the banner will reappear.
5.2 Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically choose to block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete existing cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect the functionality of the website.
| Browser | Where to find cookie settings |
|---|---|
| Chrome | Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data |
| Safari | Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data |
| Firefox | Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data |
| Edge | Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data |
5.3 Opt out of Google Analytics
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5.4 Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Book Tribe currently does not respond to DNT signals, as there is no consistent industry standard for how to respond. You can use the cookie controls described above to manage your preferences.
Some cookies on booktribe.com.au are set by third-party services. We do not control these cookies and they are governed by the relevant third party's privacy policy:

| Google Analytics | Website analytics and usage reporting | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Brevo (Sendinblue) | Email marketing tracking | brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy |
| Stripe | Payment processing (subscription pages) | stripe.com/privacy |
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes we will update the 'Last updated' date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
